Music brings so much joy to life. I sometimes wonder when people began to sing. When did we becomes a species which could produce art? Do other species produce art? Though we can not all read notes on a staff (or any other system of writing down music), a drive to create music unites us across every culture, every tribe, every race... it leaves no one untouched. The earliest instrument we have discovered to date was a flute dating between 60,000 BC and 35,000 BC (as there is some debate). We are beginning to explore the idea that not only homo sapiens, but also neanderthals, played flutes. I cannot imagine that this drive to make music will ever change; we are inherently creators, and music offers us an outlet to create in a way that allows us to express our individuality, but in which we can also participate as a community, as a human family.
Without further ado, here are some songs I love and would like to share with you.
Until All Are Fed by Bryan McFarland
This is one of my favorite hymns, and I love to sing it. It contains a message I'd love to see in more hymns.
William Taylor by Poor Man's Gambit
Poor Man's Gambit is one of my all-time favorite groups! Definitely worth a listen!
Happiness by We Banjo 3
I had the privilege of seeing this group perform at the Sellersville Theater, and it was such an energizing show!
The Bright Side of the Moon by FullSet
I have gotten to see this group perform at the Celtic Classic in Bethlehem, and was not familiar with this song but very much enjoy it.
